The Castle by Franz Kafka

This oft overlooked novel by Franz Kafka is as engaging as it is confusing. Kafka died before he finished writing The Castle and we never would have had access to its twisting, frustrating narrative had his good buddy Max Brod not completely ignored Kafka’s deathbed wish that all of his unpublished works be destroyed. Max being an awful friend aside, The Castle is a perfect snowed-in and curled-up mind bender for anyone who hates bureaucracy, loves Kafka’s other work, or both.
