A Night for Readers, Songwriters, and Aspiring Authors

Come to Visible Voice Books on Thursday, July 30, for a meet and greet with author Greg Cielec, first-time novelist Dwight Jellison, and longtime local music icon Denis DeVito.

Greg Cielec has just finished his fourth fiction effort, a novel My Rock and Roll Girl. Originally released in December of last year it immediately made Cleveland Magazine’s list of best books of 2025. Greg is also the author of My Cleveland Story and A Poem on a Bar Room Wall. The late, great Cleveland’s Minister of Culture Michael Heaton once described Greg as “Cleveland’s Mark Twain.”

Dwight Jellison, along with his daughter Maddie, recently released their first writing collaboration Twin Flames. Dwight will discuss the unique method they used, with him living in Ohio and Maddie living in New York City. They are currently collaborating on their second novel.

Denis DeVito has been a fixture on the music scene in Northern Ohio for over forty years, going back to his days with Lucky Pierre. His current band Cats on Holiday has been together in one form or another since the late 80s, and has released four CDs of original music, mostly composed by Denis. His music has been described as “blue-collar struggles with a touch of Mexican border sound” and “Jack Kerouacish train hopping and other tales of drinking and heartache.” He’s played hundreds of shows, has written dozens of songs, and has mastered several instruments including the guitar and the button box. Denis will bring his guitar and will discuss his writing methods.
