Matthew Ellis’ new book of poetry, his first, Little Heresies is a rebuke of fundamentalist religion. These poems reexamine the foundational texts that inform today’s major Abrahamic religions through a childhood rooted in the church and a grown, queer perspective—irreverently.

Ellis will be joined by Stephanie Ginese.

Matthew Ellis (he/him) is a queer poet living in Columbus, Ohio. With a background in chemistry, he spends his time teaching yoga and following creative pursuits in music and writing.

Stephanie Ginese is an author and stand-up comedian from South Lorain, Ohio. Her debut collection of poetry, Unto Dogs, was released in July of 2022 on Grieveland. She was a 2023 Cleveland Arts Prize recipient and a 2024 Creative Impact Fund awardee. In 2026, she was awarded a Susanna Colloredo Environmental Writing Fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center.
